Dr. Currey and Mr. C in the Wallowas.
Mr. Currey now teaches first grade in Boring, Oregon, and can proudly say he has taught ALL grades, kindergarten through fifth grade.  He started his teaching career as a Teach for America corpsmember in San Jose, California.  The beginning of the 2018 school year marks his 15th year as a teacher.

He believes that learning should be joyous, and that children learn best by doing.  His core purpose as an educator is to help students exceed the expectations of others and themselves, and to be prepared to continue learning and loving learning.

When not teaching or thinking about teaching, Mr. Currey shuttles his two teenagers around, helps Dr. Currey prepare and cook delicious and healthy meals, and spends time outside in the great Northwest.

Growing up in North Idaho, Mr. Currey benefited from an excellent and well-rounded education at home and at school from his mother (a reading teacher), and his father, an artist and tradesman.  The outdoors played a vital role in his childhood.

Mr. Currey is a proud graduate of North Idaho College (a community college), as well as the Evergreen State College in Olympia, Washington.  He recently earned his Master of Education in Curriculum and Instruction from Portland State University.
Mr. Currey and his son Isaiah (9th grade) and
daughter Elora (10th grade).

This past summer, the Curreys spent a lot of time outdoors with our two old dogs, Pepper and Tedward. Mr. Currey also had his first summer job in many, many years working with a day camp for children on the Autism Spectrum.
